My husband used the word detritus in ordinary conversation.
I mentioned that most dogs go outside in the fresh air, and come back in smelling better.
Our dog, however, always comes back in smelling horrible.
So he said that she has secret piles of dead animals and other detritus hidden all over.
detritus!
Gotta love an educated man!!
